The swank of Art Basel is long gone. Celebs and tycoons took arty prizes and deflated wallets back to their natural habitats. For a short while they pumped up Miami with even more traffic and plastic surgery, but our city can still throw a helluva glamorous get-together. Enter Brazil Foundation’s Gala Miami, which is set to dazzle you in exchange for your fat stacks.
Established in 2000, the nonprofit throws yearly bashes that raise thousands of dollars and draw a smattering of famous faces. Last year’s gala lured models Adriana Lima and Melanie Ribbe, rapper Fat Joe, and artist Romero Britto, to name just a few. Pérez Art Museum Miami (1103 Biscayne Blvd., Miami) will present 2014’s black-tie event, which kicks off at 7 p.m. Saturday.
The evening’s award recipients will include singer and television host Ivete Sangalo and Miami City Ballet School director Darleen Callaghan. The event will feature cocktails, dinner, tributes, and dancing, along with a performance by Quabales and an afterparty. Tickets start at $1,000 for individual guests.
