Few things go better together than food and wine, and when they’re paired in South Beach, it’s like a festival made in culinary heaven. In its 13th year, the South Beach Wine & Food Festival, hosted by Florida International University and Southern Wine & Spirits, has a bevy of star-studded events to satisfy both the Food Network buff and the average food-lover.
Attendees can meet the chef masterminds behind favorite local restaurants such as Swine Southern Table & Bar, Bread + Butter, and Chef Adrianne’s. Food personalities Anne Burrell, Giada De Laurentiis, and Emeril Lagasse, among others, will host and attend events, and Miami gems Chris Bosh and Emilio Estefan will also make appearances. Basically, it’s a who’s who of the cooking world mixed with some local celebrity appeal. Aside from tasting all the undoubtedly delicious fare, guests can feel good about themselves because a portion of the proceeds from the festival benefit FIU’s Chaplin School of Hospitality and Tourism Management.
Be sure to grab New Times’ Taste 2014 guide for the must-see events and a handy map to help navigate the fest. Beginning this Thursday and wrapping up Sunday, SOBEWFF events take place at various times and locations. Ticket prices start at $20 and skyrocket to upward of $1,000. Most events are for those 21 years of age or older. Visit sobewineandfoodfest.com.
