The weather is already getting warmer, the skies are clearing, and spring is on its way. What better way to enjoy the outdoors than flying some kites? Skyward Kites and Miami-Dade Parks have organized a day of elevated proportions for the 21st-annual Kite Day.
Aside from the flock of folks who will trot out their most colorful flying creations, there will also be a kite-building class, kite-flying demonstrations, and a kite-flying competition for both kids and adults. Spectators can expect to see the skies over Haulover Park filled with wacky and interesting creations, including a 100-foot squid, a 30-foot scuba diver, and a 150-foot rainbow.
Head to Haulover Park (10800 Collins Ave., Miami Beach) this Sunday for a unique weekend afternoon. Kite Day festivities will run from noon until 5 p.m. Admission is free, but parking costs $6. Food and refreshments, as well as kites, will be available for purchase. Call 305-893-0906 or visit skywardkites.com.
