It’s the final Miami Dolphins game of the year, and of course it’s against the stinking Jets. This Sunday’s matchup against the New York Jets is a double-edged sword, because there is a chance that for the first time in five years the Dolphins will actually make the playoffs. All it requires is beating their biggest rivals.
Thankfully, the Jets have been their own special kind of awful this year, and the blame lands squarely on head coach Rex Ryan’s saggy belly fat and first-year quarterback Geno Smith.
For the Miami Dolphins, it appears the team’s biggest strength is in the same position as the Jets’ biggest weakness: quarterback. Before our very eyes, Ryan Tannehill has grown into a man — a football-throwing man. Has the torture finally ended? Have the Dolphins finally found a quarterback who can supplant the long shadow left by NFL legend Dan Marino? There’s hope.
