Children might not seem like the ideal actors to perform in In the Heights, the Tony award-winning musical about the lives of an ensemble of characters living in New York City's Dominican-American neighborhood of Washington Heights. But the Miami Children's Theater troupe aren't just any kids; many have graduated from performances with the theater company to roles on Broadway. In fact, director Tim Fath says the production of In the Heights that launches Nov 1 at the Alper JCC will "change the way people perceive children's theater." This isn't just another high-pitched production of Annie, he promises; the actors in this show can relate to its themes and characters in a way perhaps no other community of kids can. Outside of the actual "Heights," that is.
