Altruistic peeping Toms finally have an event created just for them. The Miami Children’s Initiative, dedicated to improving the lives of kids in Liberty City, will host its second annual Over the Edge Miami event this Friday and Saturday on the side of the JW Marriot Marquis Miami (255 Biscayne Blvd. Way, Miami). On the side? Yes, on the side. If you raise at least $1,500 in donations for the Miami Children’s Initiative, you will be able to rappel down the side of 19 stories of hotel and look into whichever windows you’d like. The organizers estimate it will take somewhere between five to 15 minutes to make the full trip down. (Your total time will be directly related to how creepy of a voyeur you are.) If you’ve got something against the kids of Liberty City, you can also rappel down the building for free if you volunteer as a trained assistant on the rappel rigs. Good news for cheapskates, we suppose, but are amoral people looking to cut corners really the ones you’d trust to shove you off the roof of a high-rise? Fortunately, if you want a witness for the inevitable trial, participants can invite friends to watch them plummet to their doom. Lonely spectators without any friends are also welcome to watch from the roof, although if you show up with a pair of hedge clippers, it probably won’t solve your loneliness. It rarely does.
