All right, enough of the freakin’ preseason already. This is it, the last of five games that began a month ago. Notoriously, the final game of the preseason features a bunch of nobodies fighting for the last scraps of open roster space. But the final game also tends to be the most interesting, as the preseason goes, marking many players’ only chance to show they deserve to be saved from a middling career in the Canadian Football League.
The Miami Dolphins’ final preseason matchup will be against one of the NFC South’s powerhouse teams, the New Orleans Saints, this Thursday, at Sun Life Stadium (2269 NW 199th St., Miami Gardens). After last year’s metaphorical castration, the Saints will be looking to unload the chip on their shoulder onto any team unlucky enough to be standing across the field. Even though big names like Drew Brees, Marquis Colston, Ryan Tannehill, and Mike Wallace will spend most of the time on the bench, this is still the final push to the start of the season.
