The first rule of fight club is simple: You talk about fight club - Improv Fight Club, that is. No need for secrecy here; if you attend Improv Fight Club, they want you to talk about it. Negative Four Months and Always Cherish Cheese are the two teams competing for the ultimate prize this Saturday. (That prize? Applause and laughter.)
Each round consists of short-form improv games, beginning with picking a scene from a hat or having the audience yell out a word. It is all made up on the spot, so expect lots of impromptu witty banter and large arm movements. These two house teams, part of the Invention Theater and Production Company, will segregate themselves into red versus blue, so if you wear white, it’ll be like the Fourth of July all over again (or you can stick to the theme, pick a color, and support a team).
See how a bunch of funny people resolve their issues — nonviolently — at the Improv Fight Club on Saturday. Doors open at 8:30 p.m. and the show begins at 9 p.m. at the Just the Funny Theater (3119 Coral Way, Coral Gables). Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the door for $10. There is no age restriction for the event, but a PG-13 rating has been assigned to it.
