Talking about the great films you’re going to make can get your pulse racing. So can chugging a whole pot of coffee. Doing them both at the same time is the cineaste’s equivalent of backhoeing Pop Rocks and Coke into your yapper. But if you dream in Cinemascope, then maybe fizzy self-immolation is worth the risk to get your movie idea off the ground.
Cue the Percolator, a meet-up just for you, the spaz with the kino-glaz, on Tuesday at O Cinema Wynwood (90 NW 29th St., Miami). Directors, actors, writers, editors, wardrobe stylists: for three hours starting at 6:30 p.m., you can spitball your ideas with other local filmmakers or find someone else’s project you’d like to join. Indie Film Club Miami is hosting the event and providing free, unlimited coffee. (Even if you aren’t interested in making a film, you should take on their unlimited coffee challenge and see what gives out first, your heart or the IFCM’s French press.)
The Percolator is also open to visual artists, web designers, comic scribblers, animators, and really anyone who creates visual content. What’ll you do at the Percolator? You can pitch ideas to the group, gather ’round the Idea Table for a jolt of that inspirado, or join a group to see what jittery collaborations develop. Then go out and do it, because sleep is for people who just want to dream, and coffee is for those who actually want to get stuff done.
