The entire block will be shut down. Artists will create live mural paintings. Musicians will take the stage and bring Miami’s soul to life. Food trucks will trek to Wynwood to satisfy everyone’s appetite. Models will strut through the district. Skateboarders will glide through a new skate course.
Music Skate Fashion Cause (MSFC) is a block party and charity event combining those arts in the hopes of nurturing Miami’s burgeoning artistic movement. Ideation Group, a newly formed marketing, film, media, and event production group, has joined Phatechee and Emanate Filmworks as the masterminds behind MSFC.
MSFC envisions a bright future. It hopes to become the Art Basel Miami Beach of the urban arts, annually drawing crowds en masse to the Wynwood Arts District to expose local musicians, artists, skaters, and entertainers to the local stage year after year. Seems like an ambitious goal, but one has to start somewhere, right? Art Basel sure did. And this summer, MSFC’s two-year endeavor will come to fruition at the inaugural event. “Although this is our first year, we are very impressed with what we have been able to put together and can’t wait to share our vision with the public,” says MSFC team member Abdur Rahman.
This Saturday, MSFC will present local musicians such as Kulture Shock, Will Brennan (recently picked up by Steve Aoki’s Dim Mak Records), Kayale, and Eric Biddines. The fun won’t end there. Truckfit, Rocksmith, and WuWear will showcase their latest designs and hit the runway while artist Atomik splashes paint throughout the block.
These locals will stage their talents to not only entertain a crowd but also support a greater cause. MSFC teamed up with Grind for Life, a charity whose mission is to offer financial assistance to cancer patients and their families when traveling long distances to doctors and hospitals. To support the cause, $1 from every presold ticket, as well as all the proceeds from the raffles during the event, will be donated to Grind for Life.
The inaugural MSFC will take place at LAB Miami (400 NW 26th St., Miami), and the entire block will be shut down from 3 to 9 p.m. Advance tickets cost $12 and will be available until the day of the event or until discounted tickets run out. The price will increase to $15 per ticket the day of the event. Visit phatechee.com or facebook.com/musicskatefashioncause.
