Travis Wall knows a thing or two about dreams. First, the 25-year-old dancer, Emmy-nominated choreographer, and reality star is living his dreams: The dance company that he and his best friends founded, Shaping Sound, is on a multicity tour. Second, the show of his dreams is, in fact, inspired by dreaming. (This is getting Inception-y.) Also, every once in a while, the multihyphenate probably gets some REM sleep.
Then again, maybe not. Wall’s busy schedule has him jetting back to Los Angeles to choreograph for the TV series So You Think You Can Dance after Shaping Sound completes its 13-stop tour.
Wall split-leaped his way into America’s living rooms as the runnerup on season two of SYTYCD. Since then, in addition to choreographing for the Fox show, he helped put together numbers for the 82nd Academy Awards and the latest Miami-based Step Up: Revolution movie. He was also featured in the Oxygen reality show All the Right Moves, which documented the formation of Shaping Sound with pals Nick Lazzarini (season one SYTYCD winner), Teddy Forance, and Kyle Robinson.
Shaping Sound hits the Colony Theatre (1040 Lincoln Rd., Miami Beach) Wednesday and Thursday, June 12 and 13. Each show will be preceded by a two-hour dance workshop for advanced dancers 13 years and older that will feature choreography from the show.
