Much to the delight of Miami foodies, the local dining scene has exploded over the past few years. And for those whose bank account balance hovers near zero, events such as Coral Gables Restaurant Week, running this Monday through June 30, are a godsend.
Apart from three weeks of prix fixe menus for both lunch and dinner at more than 30 restaurants — including Swine Southern Table & Bar, Seasons 52, the Local, Bread & Butter Counter, Fritz & Franz Bierhaus, Miss Saigon Bistro, and Morton’s the Steakhouse — there are several ticketed events sure to please your inner piggie. Casual ticketed events include a pizza-making class at Cibo Wine Bar this Wednesday ($50 per person) and Enchilada Madness at Talavera, where for only $22, you get to sample three authentic enchilada recipes and a margarita (June 17 and 24). Fancy it up with a wine-pairing dinner at Seasons 52 on Friday, June 21, for $119 per person, and a Midnight Chef’s Table at Swine, where you get to hobnob with Swine chef Phillip Bryant and Eating House’s Giorgio Rapicavoli ($55 per person) Friday, June 28.
