Traditionally, bikers don’t have the most wholesome reputations. They tend to evoke Sons of Anarchy-style images — drugs, sex, violence. But Mitchell Abrams is hoping to change all of that with his first annual Mayhem Motorcycle Rally, revving its way into South Florida this Friday. The ambitious, family-friendly event will span three days and a variety of locales, as far north as Fort Lauderdale and as far south as Homestead. Get your motor running, well-behaved bikers, because it’s gonna be an action-packed weekend. “We’ve got every kind of racing that motorcycle enthusiasts are behind,” Abrams says. “People don’t know we have a winery; people don’t know about the tracks and stuff in their own backyard — even bikers. [The rally] is encouraging the fact that you can come down here and race.” Abrams has partnered with five spots handpicked to serve as the main venues for the rally: Mack’s Fish Camp (Danell Lane, Hialeah), Café 27 (4690 U.S. 27, Southwest Ranches), Miami Motocross Park (16665 Krome Ave., Hialeah), Homestead-Miami Speedway (1 Speedway Blvd., Homestead), and Countyline Dragway (19999 Okeechobee Rd., Miami). They’ll feature musical acts performing onstage, the Mayhem Tattoo & Body Art Expo, and Mayhem After Dark, a late-night event featuring Josepher’s Electrolust Party, American Horrors Network, and other live performances.
