Whoever heard of an EDM duo with only two songs playing Ultra Music Festival? Well, when that act's two members are world-renowned DJ-producers Boys Noize and Skrillex, even an electronic dance music institution like UMF will make a special exception.
Dog Blood, a crazy collab project from the German electro acid head and the Los Angeles-based dubstep dynamo, has so far produced just a couple of tracks on a single EP. Last November, though, the duo announced that new productions are in the works. And for this pair, that's all it takes to score a special, one-day headlining slot on the Ultra Worldwide stage.
If you haven't already heard this tag team's two-track EP, you'd probably imagine dark techno pitted against screeching womp-womp. But no, try to forget everything you know about Boys Noize and Skrillex. Because Dog Blood isn't just a mashup. It's the "Next Order," a gritty, hard electro track with a funky beat, and "Middle Finger," a dark EDM amalgamation from the edge of deep space.

Believe it or not, though, a chance to catch the act behind the decks is even rarer than new releases. Both artists already have superbusy solo touring schedules. In fact, Skrillex is one of the most heavily booked DJs in the world. To date, the pair has played only a handful of Dog Blood sets, including a New Year's Eve party in New York City and the Holy Ship!! music cruise. In 2013, Boys Noize and Skrillex are scheduled to play Ultra and the Coachella festival in California — and that's about it. So UMF attendees should consider themselves very beat-freaking lucky.
