Bar Lab’s Elad Zvi and Gabriel Orta are Miami’s undisputed kings of mixology. And unsurprisingly, liquor leaders like these two have a roster of talented friends. This Monday, you’ll be lucky enough to meet a pair of them — and get drunker by association.
For a couple of hours, local bartending legend Walid Hamid (formerly of Sra. Martinez, now with Avión Tequila) and NYC-based Nick Van Tiel will ply visitors with free cocktails, sponsored by Beefeater Gin and Avión Tequila, as part of the Off Duty Mondays at Bar Lab’s home, the Broken Shaker at the Freehand (2727 Indian Creek Dr., Miami Beach).
Who knows what wonders await? Attendees might taste the likes of Cocoa Puff-infused bourbon, homegrown ginger beer, or toasted pecan bitters. At the Broken Shaker, anything is possible — the charming cocktail spot is known for its homemade elixirs, syrups, and infusions made with fruit and herbs grown on-site and exotic inclusions from around the world. From garden to glass, literally.
Sitting outside on a breezy patio, with an aromatic concoction in hand, twinkly lights strung above, and maybe a game or two of Rock ’Em Sock ’Em Robots under your belt, those Monday blues will fall away like last weekend’s hangover.
