Defeat Detroit

As the Miami Heat approaches the midpoint of the season, the team has proven it can coast through entire months of play and still find itself in first place in the Eastern Conference. Though that might not be the best selling point for a sports franchise (and drives its fan base crazy), a nightly serving of superstar-caliber alley-oops and high-flying athletic theatrics can still fill the American Airlines Arena (601 Biscayne Blvd., Miami) any night of the week. Just pay no mind to the losses that continue to pile up. The Detroit Pistons (14-24) might not seem like a worthy adversary to the hometown Heat, but there are two reasons why this Friday’s game shouldn’t be missed: (1) Nearly a month ago, Detroit embarrassed the Heat 109-99, and there’s gonna be some vengeance served, and (2) it’s Friday night, and the NBA’s sexiest fans are sure to be dressed more inappropriately than normal. This time around, the Heat hopes to bottle up young Will Bynum and keep the Pistons from shooting 58 percent from the field.
