In 2005, a film titled The Notorious Bettie Page attempted to tell the story of one of America's most recognizable models of all time: the pin-up legend Bettie Page herself. With a talented cast including Gretchen Mol as Page, the movie should have been a hit. But sadly, the film fell flat with critics, who called it “disappointingly flat” and “seriously conflicted.”
“But still, who was Bettie Page?” complained the Detroit News. “The film offers not a clue.”
Page gets a second chance at proper film treatment with Bettie Page Reveals All, a documentary by Academy Award-winning director Mark Mori in which Page tells the story of her own life, from helping to ignite the 1960s sexual revolution to rebuking the complaints of conservatives, even to being incarcerated for mental instability. Hugh Hefner and Bunny Yeager are among the Page contemporaries who lend their viewpoints to the film.
