It’s perhaps one of the most storied rivalries in football, and maybe all of sports: the University of Miami Hurricanes versus the Florida State Seminoles. Historically, the Canes have dominated, leading the all-time series 31-25. But in recent years, the Noles have made gains, winning three of the past five matchups. Before the two teams take the field Saturday at 8 p.m. for their 57th meeting, however, fans from both sides will convene in the Sun Life Stadium (347 Don Shula Dr., Miami Gardens) parking lot for the season’s biggest tailgate. It’s an event just as big as the game itself. In 2010, one out of every four cars at the tailgate was rolling past with a friggin’ DJ; this year, you can expect plenty of tiki-tiki music, with a handful of “Somebody That I Used to Know” dubstep remixes thrown in. And only in Miami does a tailgate call for a caja china, AKA a giant pig-roasting box capable of feeding everyone in lot section W-24.
