I GIVE UP ON THE DOLPHINS. SHULA AT 81 CAN DO A BETTER JOB THEN ALL THE SO CALLED COACHES SINCE HUZINGA BOUGHT THE TEAM, DAYS OF YESTERYEAR.
The Miami Dolphins are the most hypocritical football organization to ever be featured on national television. Cutting Chad Johnson, one of the top wide receivers in the NFL, was completely unfair. Before his wife, Evelyn Lozada, accused him of head-butting her, Johnson was one of the few players in the league to never get arrested. Yes, he's a clown who loves to mug for the cameras, but every NFL team has a jokester. How the heck can head coach Joe Philbin tell Johnson he doesn't fit into the Dolphins' program when he apparently condones veterans hazing rookies by shaving their hair to look like penises? Philbin's got some nerve.
Besides, the Dolphins have a history of keeping players who get in trouble off the football field. In 2010, the team didn't cut then-defensive linemen Tony McDaniel and Phillip Merling, both of whom had been arrested for domestic battery against their significant others during training camp. Around the same time, running back Ronnie Brown and cornerback Will Allen were popped for DUI. Those incidents occurred the same year the Dolphins traded for Brandon Marshall, a talented wide receiver who had four arrests before coming to Miami, including one for domestic violence. In April 2011, Marshall was involved in another domestic dispute in which his wife stabbed him. He stayed on the Dolphins' roster.
The truth is that anyone watching the first two episodes of Hard Knocks: Training Camp With the Miami Dolphins could tell Philbin didn't like Johnson and wanted any reason to let him go. But in doing so, Philbin shows how some NFL coaches and general managers such as Jeff Ireland are full of crap. They preach about the Dolphins being a family and that players need to stick together and ride or die together. Yet when it came time for Philbin to support Johnson and show him the Dolphins were behind him, the head coach turned on him. Even some players are openly questioning Philbin's decision. On Sid Rosenberg's show last week, linebacker Karlos Dansby said he hated that the Dolphins didn't give Johnson a chance to atone.
The franchise's treatment of Chad shows why no signature free agents want to play for Miami. In getting rid of the clown, the Dolphins proved themselves to be a joke.

Chad Johnson got cut because he was stupid. He had a chance and he blew it. He started acting up before he even made his mark as a player for the Dolphins. Instead he opted to make his "mark" on his wife's forehead before he made his "mark" as a "player" for the Dolphins.
@PoloBooda the coach probably didn't like chad but he was the reason why they got rid of Marshall he don't want none of that bullshit
@unclelukereal1 There are 2 facts that won't change 1.the phins will always suck 2.you'll always be a racist douche
@MsBiancaT Chad Johnson hits a woman and gets kicked off the team. Chris Brown hits a woman and gets to win an grammy.
You are stupid. Chad Johnson did not get cut simply because he head-butted his wife. Although, in my opinion, that is enough to show that the dumbass shouldn't be on the team. Johnson does not produce Pro Bowl numbers anymore. If he did, or even still had the potential to, he would still be on the roster. Plain and simple, Johnson's personality isn't worth mediocre stats.
And to use the Dolphins history of allowing players with legal run-ins to remain with the team is also, you guessed it, stupid. Tony Sparano isn't their coach, Philbin is. The coaches have the responsibility of making roster cuts. Philbin is trying to build an organization demanding respect, and to do that you have to set the tone early and often. That is what he is doing.
Obviously Mr.Campbell did not watch Hard Knocks. If he did, he should review the part where Philbin asked the rookie with the haircut to stand up. Coach Philbin was legitimately pissed off and shook his head while saying something like "this is supposed to be a first-class organization". He also would have noticed that Chad Johnson was clueless AGAIN when it came to running routes. All 4 QB's talked about him in the QB meetings and Garrard was quoted saying he was going to try and talk to Chad. Either Moore or Tannehill said he "never seems to be where you expect him to be." He was running his own routes and had ZERO chemistry with the QB's. He was never going to make this team and anyone that pays attention to the Dolphins knows that. Philbin would have given him the respect of getting through camp and cutting him along with others if he had not been such a distraction but why wait after the legal incident which was sure to be a distraction for the team. This had nothing to do with "giving Chad a fair chance" and everything to do with what was best for the team.
your first name is luther? you douche! picked on alot as a kid? low self esteem? can get up for the old lady? wow you just suck all around there luther. you are jerry sandusky ing the fins rep.
do you get off on pissing fans off? and who pays your paycheck? is it like the gas company where they have way too much money so they pay people like yourself just to write something off at the end of the year? or is it cause they need more minorities on the payroll? either way do us real fin fans a favor and go... yourself. hey whats the terminal velocity of your body weight jumping off a building? well go find out!
you are crazy and a liar! philbin did not condone the haircut! he said that the haircut was not classy and this is a classy organization! and said it stern to the whole team. how do they allow a shit ass article of lies on our home page. whose your team the jets? go get a life you no good "anal"ist.
I'm sorry but "Head Butting" a woman is far out of line. If she was being difficult and getting out of line as women are known to do, then the appropate course of action is to "BITCHSLAPTAT'HO". Chad is just a young man who needs to learn how to handle the women that will "come and g"o from his life!
Pretty sure Chadwick is not a top NFL receiver. I think you are a little behind the times I forget the total number of yards he had last year with the Patriots was it any good? Perhaps he has issues running routes or something and learning play books and football stuff. Secondly the hazing and what not... the penis was gone after it was pointed out to the coach. This new coaching staff has hardly been around. Why do you blame things that happen on the old coaching staff on Philbins new staff? Philbin has been seemingly solid with Ocho Chadwcik from the start keeping him on a short leash since being a pro is not as important as being a clown. At least that is how I see his clowning around at practice, in front of cameras during interviews, and twitter. I am sure it is a pain in the ass for coaches to deal with. Also even if Philbin did not like Chad he still told him exactly what he expected of him and was seemingly very clear. How can you not hold Chad to his own actions. He even apologized, he knows he screwed up. You the author suck chads d1(k! Your waiting for the money shot with those homo glasses.
You are a joke, this is article shows that, like Chad Johnson, you should also be fired. This guy headbutted his wife i don't believe that was meant to get some laughs. Also this is a new coach, not Sparano anymore buddy. Also whats with the huge picture of you in the article, quit trying to get your name and face out there with terrible journalism and even worse photoshoots.
jbarr you are an idiot u didnt even read the facts just like luther said it shows how the dolphins are hypocritical and dont stand behind their team member dont be mad because its the truth! Forget it being a new coach the whole dolphin franchise is a joke!!!!!!!!!! ANTI-DOLPHIN
@lenoragriffith11 are you serious? you assume the only reason he got release was because of the head butt? are you that dense? Luther didnt put in any facts he just made opinionated statements based on limited information. Funny though how you are willing to accept a past that no longer exists but conveniently want to omit Philbin as a new head coach....smells like bias to me.
This article is a flippin joke. Grow up, the guy needed to get cut and desrved to get cut. Philbin is a new HC that wants to show the team what he expects out of his team, and for him to NOT cut Johnson its leaving the door for anyone to run over Philbin.
@Sammy Run over you should pull his arrest record !!! You dolphins suck ive been in miami my whole life and refuse to be a Dol fan for reasons just like this just because he is a new coach means nothing he was trying to make a point and he did DOLFINS dont stand with their own and for your info HE was not found guilty of head buttiung evelyn thank you
@lenoragriffith11 @Sammy He admitted to it you moron and his case wasnt hear yet. And his record states he was guilty of doing so before in 2000 and had to complete a treatment program as part of his sentence. Say something intelligent for once!
Interesting article to say the least, unfortunately it sounds like you just like Chad and don't like the Dolphins. You sure do make so wild assumptions though, like stating that Johnson is a top receiver in the NFl...the truth being, he WAS a top receiver in the NFL and there is no proof that you can come up with that states any different. You obviously have not been to the training camps. When Chad was hailed as the receiver who still had it, and that looked great out there, was at the beginning with out pads. Once the pads came on, he couldn't get open to save his life in practice and dropped balls constantly so stating how great he is is absurd when there is no proof he still is. You are also assuming that the only reason he was let go was because of his wife??? where do you come up with that? It was partially the reason but also his lack of production in practice (that i saw personally) and in the preseason game. Furthermore, Philbin made a comment about the haircut when he saw it stating (paraphrasing here) "this is how we show class in this organization" showing his disdain for it and guess what, the next day the penis was GONE and i am sure Philbin had a conversation with the players about it. Calling the Dolphin organization hypocrites is absurd when the one that made the call was Philbin, the new guy in the organization so using examples from the past only weaken what ever point you were trying to make. Being a new coach is hard enough with out the clowning around no matter how nice a guy Chad is and a fun person to be around he reaped what he sowed. Interesting that you did not mention that he said he was going to get arrested that weekend? He had his fourth chance to leave a mark on his career and he squandered it and he has no one to blame but himself and he knows it. Defending someone by blaming others is the lowest form of reverence and you my friend just showed us how Chad fell from atop of the receiver core in the NFL to the abyss of inequity regarding his abilities by focusing on how he was done wrong. Furthermore, he gave a sincere apology regarding his actions, which he knew were completely out of line and you trampled on his heartfelt apology by writing this piece. Do him a favor and dont try to defend him, he doesn't need you.
You should be reminded that all those players you mentioned who got in trouble was during the previous regimen, and even though Jeff Ireland is still the GM, the HC has an input on how he wants things done, besides you can not compare a DUI with a domestic battery charge, Johnson could be facing time in jail if this stands true, and you can see on the 2nd episode of Hard Knocks, from Johnson's mouth that he knew he was on a short leash and what was expected of him, he clearly blew his chance.
Football is a business not a family and Chad Johnson was bad for business. He was not picking up the play book, he was not contributing to the offense, he dropped a very catchable touchdown pass in the preseason game, and he is a jackass who puts his life on display for everyone to see for a little bit of money. As a life long Dolphin fan I am glad we got rid of that clown.
