May Marlins M.I.A.

The Miami Marlinswill need all hands on deck if they want to climb out of the recent stinkhole they’ve dug themselves. Specifically, they need to start playing like they did last month, when they were the best team in all of baseball. While the Heat has been plowing through the competition, overcoming odds, and winning nail biters as the team tries to earn another NBA title, the Marlins have been flying under the radar of suck. After posting a 21-8 record in May, a franchise best for a single month, the Fish began to flounder, running into a season-long losing streak while their bats disappeared and their once-untouchable pitching got tagged with extreme prejudice. In their home series against the Braves, the Marlins were outscored 21-3. The Rays pummeled Miami 22-7 in their three-game series. It’s still early in the season, but the Marlins’ annoying trend of awesomeness one week and atrociousness the next is a little troubling. First baseman Gaby Sanchez was recently called back up after starting the season slow, and we know that Logan Morrison can be a hitting machine and that Giancarlo Stanton can murder baseballs. They just need to pretend it’s May again!
