More About

You know who wants to be outside in Miami these days? No, seriously, we’re asking, because we sure as hell don’t. Now that hurricane season is in full effect, South Florida feels more like the dank, humid armpit of America than, um, another part of its anatomy. Even nighttime offers no relief from outdoor sweat and discomfort. So the DWNTWN Miami Concert Series, which usually holds its shows at the open-air Klipsch Amphitheater at Bayfront Park, is bringing the party indoors for the summer. When singer-songwriter Eric Hutchinson takes the stage Friday, it’ll be at the Olympia Theater at the Gusman Center (174 E. Flagler St., Miami), not far from the outdoor stage where the Miami Downtown Development Authority hosted its free shows until the hellish summer heat ruined nature for us all. His poppy, hand-clappy, Maryland-born sound will be complemented by the local stars of the Jacob Jeffries Band, who are no strangers to the DWNTWN series and last month released their latest album, Tell Me Secrets.
Fri., June 8, 8 p.m., 2012
