But here in the 305, possibly in an effort to prove just how little of a damn we give, Wednesday has been designated an unofficial day for celebrating the pop queen in all her bicep-y, chameleon gloriousness. The keynote event: a screening of Evita, the period musical that featured a post-BDSM-erotica, pre-new-agey Kabalah Madonna playing the role of Argentina’s most beloved and simultaneously hated first lady Eva Perón. The film, which also starred Antonio Banderas as Che Guevara, made it into the Guinness Book of World Records after Madonna changed costumes 85 times. Yes, 85. Gather your most lacey blankets and head to New World Center (500 17th St., Miami Beach), where you can set up a picnic on the lawn and watch 1940s Argentina come to life on a wall of the Frank Gehry-designed building as part of City of Miami Beach’s SoundScape Cinema Series.
