More About

The historic Moore Building (4040 N.E. 2nd Ave., Miami) is one of the most alluring and architecturally surreal buildings in our Magic City. The venue transports you to a forgotten classical era. It was built in 1920, just as a young Salvador Dali was leading the Dada movement towards Surrealism. So there is probably no better venue to welcome Dali Miami, an exclusive five-day, one-of-a-kind exhibit featuring the largest body of Dali's work ever to be shown in South Florida. Visitors to the show should expect to encounter more than 200 original works, with an emphasis on the artist's sculptures. Also expect to encounter a continuous showing of the 1929 film, Un Chien Andalou. Dali collaborated on the 17-minute French surrealist film that explores the destructive elements of the human psyche, a major theme of the Surrealism movement. The opening gala in addition to the limited exhibition promises to deliver a special treat for lovers of the great 20th century artist. Dali Miami runs Thursday through Sunday. Tickets to the opening night reception cost $80; for the rest of its run, tickets cost $20 online or $25 at door. Visit dalimiami.com.
