I hear you luke . i just hope Rosenhouse hears or sees this post . Luke what we need to do is get that message out there to our younger african american kids from the overtown liberty city miami gardens area and educate them about what this guy is doing . I'm sure that there are a lot of good african american agents out there that we can direct our younger generation of future NFL ballers to . if you need help in spreading this message i would be more than happy to help . just get at my on the book and let me know .

Talk about the invisible knapsack of privilege. What many commenters fail to realize is that these young men, are plucked as early as 9 years old to be groomed into professional athletes. They are taken from neighborhoods with high crime rates and low incomes. The median household income in Liberty City is 18,000 dollars. What can you teach your children about earning 10 MILLION DOLLARS a year. How can you even fathom that amount of money?
For a man who has garnered a 65 million dollar estate from the talent of poor Black boys from disadvantaged backgrounds, I think spending a couple of dollars on a Suze Orman tape is the LEAST he can do. Public schools don't teach us about fiscal responsibility and I have college educated friends who struggle with financial management. We complain about the government and treat this paradigm of greed as a man practicing the basics of capitalism. Rosenhous should be a staple in the philanthropic committee.
And when your household earns 18k and the only investment made into your future is based on your ability to run a 4 minute mile, then yes I do expect that you will be easily pursuaded to sign your life away at the promise of fortune and fame. If you don't think your AGENT is supposed to tell you something about financial management then you should be in public schools in low income areas telling people how to manage their 401k

First of all, let's remember that this is the person who put out some of the worst rap music in the 80's, and no I am not just talking about how vulgar it was. This guy led the charge in the objectification of women, materialistic views, and was an overall horrible role model for african american youth. Horrible! Don't give me the "he showed kids it was possible to escape the hood if you follow your dreams" crap either, there are hundreds of ways to do that without being a total scumbag and poor example for children.
Secondly, let's put aside who actually made the statement and look at the point of the article, that Drew should "give back". To "give back" implies that he has been "given" something in the first place. Drew performs a service and get paid to perfome the service. There is no "giving" in that transaction, there is a fair exchange between to willing parties who have options of going to other people for the exchange if they so choose. Both parties feel that the exchange is fair or else they would not participate. Drew has secured over a billion dollars in contract revenue for his clients, many of whom are the african american men referred to in the article. After he secures the contract revenue, he has performed his part of the transaction. If you dont recognize it yet, this is free market capitalism at work.
There have been dozens of agents who have abused their relationship with their clients and caused severe damage, anyone remember Tank Black? If not, google him. The performance of Drew's services has put his clients in a situation to succeed and have a lifetime of financial security. Let's not take away any responsibility from the players and more importantly their incompetent and sometimes criminal financial advisors and or accountants, because they are the ones who are actually paid to perform the service of helping the players keep the money that Drew helps them earn. They are the ones who need to "give back" because they are the ones who have taken something from the community.
Put your focus elsewhere Luke, you are way off. Start telling kids how wrong you were to act the way you did back in the day before you start crticizing others.

Not sticking up for Rosenhaus but it's kinda hard to be an agent and simultaneously gift things to schools and players. It's already well known he has the monopoly in that area much less without publicly gifting things. There may well be things he's done for people around there that you don't know about nor probably ever would or could (hush system). It's one thing to donate or be a booster of sorts for those schools or community programs and be within NCAA guidelines but it's another thing to just "give back" as you put it.
Also, the last time I checked, no one MADE those players do anything irresponsible with their money. No one exploited them to play professional football. Similarly, no one MAKES girls work at Hooters... How about instead of saying the agent should be teaching financial responsibility to youngsters you put the responsibility back on the parents and schools themselves.

While I don't disagree with Lukes request that Rosenhaus give back more to the community
he takes from I have a problem with Luke using of all people T.O. as an example of
Drew not looking out for his clients.
Aren't T.O. and the other NFL players Drew represents adults? Is Drew hired as a baby sitter?
Is anyone writing columns when us regular folk get bad advice, make bad investments and end up broke without having had the fun of "living large" as Luke suggests Rosenhaus's clients have?
Sorry Luke, I can't seem to muster any sympathy much less empathy for the T.O's of the world.
It's fine to ask Rosenhaus to give back (he can certainly afford it) but the reasons you cite and the person you use as an example ruin your argument.

What utter nonsense. People should give to charities or other organizations if they feeled called to do so. When people do decide to give they should not be racist about their giving and specify a particular demographic to help. If I was drafted in the first round, I would not get an agent. You have already performed so well that your well known. Pay structure is easy to figure out based on when your drafted. Why give an agent such a large slice of the pie?

Man,you really tell it like it is, why I love your articles and mind. This guy has been getting away with this for most of his career and any player who signs with him is only doing it for the cheese.
NFL does nothing, knows about much, hides it because he intimidates him. I don't think he or his brother are allowed on U M campus for practices but as you know, he has so many runners it's hard to catch him.
