The Miami Heatcame roaring out of the gates this season, blowing out the defending champion Mavericks in Dallas, dismantling the Celtics at home, and generally wreaking havoc on everyone in the league. LeBron, D-Wade, and Bosh looked to be headed to a 66-0 season. And if that weren't enough, rookie point guard Norris Cole has been lighting up opponents, giving the Three Kings yet another weapon with which to beat opponents into submission.
But in the midst of a 5-0 start, the Heat ran into an energetic Atlanta Hawks team that was able to stop Miami by playing a zone defense. It's no secret that Miami struggles against a zone, and some people seem to think they’ve found the kryptonite to bring the team down. But all a zone means is that the Heat is too much of a handful for teams to guard one-on-one. And the more zone defenses the Heat sees, the better the team will become at combating them, which means it’ll eventually be a futile gesture. The moral of this story: Prepare your anus, NBA!
The Heat will host the San Antonio SpursTuesday at the American Airlines Arena.
