The Orange Drive Music Festival lineup reads like a Now That’s What I Call Musiccompilation, a Top 40 extravaganza fit for late-night television commercials sandwiched between Teen Momand Jersey Shore: ten radio-friendly acts neatly packaged into three crazy, consecutive nights — two in 2011, one in 2012. Resurfacing from the grave of ’90s obscurity, Motown Philly’s Boys II Men are back and better than ever. Fresh off a Justin Bieber collaboration, the Philadelphia three-piece tackles the stage Friday alongside Pete Wentz and Gym Class Heroes. Miami Heat’s resident DJ and BankAtlantic brand ambassador DJ Irie leads us into 2012 as he drops the needle on the record with Ne-Yo and Jermaine Dupri on New Year’s Eve. And what better way to welcome the New Year than with a big “Fuck You”? Cee Lo Green continues riding the f-bomb all the way into 2012, headlining the final day of Orange Drive alongside Samantha Ronson and Cobra Starship. At $155 per person, Orange Drive is one of the more expensive New Year’s Eve parties in South Beach. But add a ribbon-cutting ceremony and some fireworks, it’s well worth the price of general admission.
