“I’m a lonely Jew on Christmas,” sang South Park’s Kyle Broflovski, feeling left out of the holiday festivities enjoyed by his gentile friends. Indeed, the holiday season can be lonely and depressing for anyone without a special person in their life, regardless of your religious affiliation.
But let’s face it: Meeting singles is especially difficult when you’re also trying to make your folks happy by bringing home a nice Jewish boy or girl. It has created wide demand for exclusive Jewish dating services such as JDate and the Society of Young Jewish Professionals. And for 24 years, the SYJP has also been throwing the annual Matzo Ball holiday mixer, giving the Jewish communities of cities such as New York, Chicago, and Miami a place to mingle and find a date for New Year’s Eve.
The Matzo Ball ain’t no prude, frugal, Manischewitz mixer, either. This year’s Miami edition promises to be a full-blown nightclub bacchanalia the likes of which you can find only at an extravagant South Beach hot spot like LIV at the Fontainebleau. Expect drinking, dining, dancing, and, if you’re lucky, meeting the love of your life.
