More About

Erwin Wurm, Austria's inimitable conceptual prankster, has fascinated us with work that plays at the margins of transformations and boundaries. He once wedged a single-family home into the façade of a Vienna museum, and last summer he presented his version of an anorexic house at the 54th Venice Biennale. He has also amazed via scenes of folks battling their wardrobes — trapped in sweaters and struggling like contortionists to escape their garments. For his latest exhibit, "Erwin Wurm: Beauty Business," at the Bass Museum of Art, the Viennese virtuoso presents his first cohesive focus on the space. Expect to see entire museum walls cloaked in large-scale sweater pieces, along with smaller works created for his beguiling series Drinking Sculpture. This sculpture is a bar where you can serve yourself a swig. It's reminiscent of parents squirreling away their bottles of Stoli and Bacardi inside dusty furniture. "Erwin Wurm: Beauty Business" runs through March 4.
Thursdays-Sundays, 11 a.m. Starts: Dec. 1. Continues through March 4, 2011
