Wednesday's show at Revolution is a rare coup for area metalheads, with an intimate club performance by two of thrash metal's top legends: Anthrax and Testament.

The former, led by the always-goateed and outspoken guitarist Scott Ian, has remained steadily in the public eye over the past four years. That's thanks to not only megawatt tours with Megadeth and Slayer, but also a number of sold-out, full-on Big Four shows with those two bands and Metallica. Rather than trade in nostalgia, though, Anthrax recently dropped a new album, Worship Music. Featuring Joey Belladonna on vocals, it's considered a true return to form for what many listeners consider the band's classic, mid-'80s and early-'90s lineup, featuring Ian and Belladonna, plus Charlie Benante on drums and Frank Bello on bass.
Testament, meanwhile, might have just missed placing in thrash metal's Big Four, but the Berkeley-born band enjoyed plenty of mainstream success during the genre's heyday. Despite the passage of time and serious health struggles — frontman Chuck Billy, for one, beat a rare form of cancer in the early '00s — the band has been rocking nonstop since 1983. Its tenth studio album, The Dark Roots of the Earth, is due out next year.
