What do you get when you mix artsy Coconut Grove with a Bavarian Oktoberfest and then send the mashup to a frat house? Grovetoberfest. This Saturday from 4 to 7 p.m., head to Peacock Park to celebrate all things beer. What can you do with beer? You can drink it (more than 80 different varieties will be available for tasting), learn about it (Beer 101 will give you a history in a 20-minute class), make it (a pavilion will feature local homebrewers and provide tips and demos for making your own beer), and cook with it (chef Ralph Pagano, Hell’s Kitchen alum and executive chef at STK at the Gansevoort, will demonstrate). It’s not just for breakfast anymore. Spam Allstars, Funkette, and 97.3 FM the Coast will provide beats to the all the flowing brew. And in case you enjoy the festivities too much, Grovetoberfest offers free admission to designated drivers (one per group of three or more) and a free ride home via the Safe Ride Home program.
