More About
Few South Florida arts organizations can boast the deep footprints of Tigertail Productions. Since 1979, the pioneering outfit has featured innovative performing, visual, and literary arts; international exchange projects; and culturally diverse festivals that have earned national recognition. Tigertail has commissioned, presented, and produced more than 500 local, national, and international artists, raising the bar on the citys evolving cultural scene while becoming known for discovering fresh talent. This Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m., Tigertail will launch its new season with a ribald performance by New Yorks inflatable art vamp, Pat Oleszko, who will unabashedly make a spectacle of herself at Wynwood Walls. Oleszko has cut a sassy swath from down-and-dirty burlesque palaces to the Big Apples Museum of Modern Art, and from Sesame Street Magazine to Artforum. Shes an unrepentant comic and social critic whose films, installations, and performances combine references to trees, breasts, butts, pachyderms, and fingers in an outrageous repertoire embodying Tigertails slogan for the 2011-12 season: Expected/Unexpected. Revelers are invited to create their own murals. And as part of the kickoff, Tigertail will offer season tickets and other prizes during the free, raucous bash. Afterward, attendees can snag some chow at Joeys or the neighboring Wynwood Kitchen & Bar at a 15 percent discount.
