More About

Is anyone else feeling freaked out by East Coast earthquakes and Europe-size hurricanes that reach all the way to Canada? Not to be alarmists or anything, but we think maybe it's time to stuff our belongings into our hybrids, pack a year's supply of organic trail mix, and navigate through the universe until we get to another planet. There we can start all over, before our world begins looking like the landscape in If You're Going to Pull a Knife, USAlo. In the gloomy, absurdist play by Carlos Caballero and Elizabeth Doud, a petroleum worker and a Disney World character actress fall in love in a ruined, polluted ocean. The text is borrowed from Samuel Beckett and performed in both Spanish and English, mimicking the Irish novelist's use of both French and English. Carlos Diaz, founder of the Cuban avant-garde theater company Teatro el Público, made the 90-mile trek to direct this play about the horrors of environmental degradation. Catch a performance Thursday through Sunday at Miami-Dade County Auditorium.
Sept. 8-11, 8 p.m., 2011
