More About

The Bass Museum of Art has always been a looker of a building, sitting pretty on Collins Avenue. Unfortunately, many locals have never stepped inside the big, beautiful structure. Beats After Sunset lures both art virgins and museum lovers into the space to view art enhanced by free-flowing booze and mixes by notable DJs. Each month, the museum hosts this first-Friday happy hour for young professionals, mature adults, party animals, artists, and their crews. August features Stravinsky, who has spun people into dancing at venues such as Bar (RIP) and the Electric Pickle. Lovers of the drink will enjoy unlimited beverages provided by Herradura tequila, Chambord, and Société Perrier. This month's Beats coincides with the opening of the new exhibit "Vanishing Points," curated by Gean Moreno. Artist Moreno is founder of [NAME] Publications and a contributing editor of Art Papers magazine. The show features paintings from the collection of Debra and Dennis Scholl of the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. The exhibition explores the history of painting and how we perceive the medium today.
Fri., Aug. 5, 8 p.m.; Wednesdays-Sundays, noon. Starts: Aug. 5. Continues through Oct. 30, 2011
