There's nothing like finding love in a laundromat. Especially when it's set to snazzy dance moves and oldies music. Suds, which is launching the opening of the new Miami Beach Stage Door at the Byron Carlyle Theatre in North Beach, is a bubbly musical comedy about three teenage girls trying to find romance through song and dance. And it's all set in a laundromat. The musical features Top 40 hits from the '50s and '60s, such as "Johnny Angel," "Don't Make Me Over," and "Chapel of Love," as well as more than 50 other ditties that would make Dick Clark blush. A hilarious romp that has garnered rave reviews from California to New York, Suds is drenched in toe-tapping oldies hits, colorful '60s costumes, hilarious moments, and campy goodness. It's American Bandstand meets Hairspray, all while a load of wash gets done. You can catch Suds this Friday at the Byron Carlyle.
Wednesdays, Fridays-Sundays, 8 p.m. Starts: July 29. Continues through Sept. 4, 2011
