This idiot is the king of clown college. He's also completely screwed the elderly population by sending them to pain management and forcing them to pay rising premiums, all while taking drug tests (I'm sure his pockets aren't getting fat off that). Time for a recall on this A-Hole. We need to snatch his ass out of office and put him into one of those privatized prisons so he can feel his corruption at work (hopefully at a medium pace in and out of ass)!!!

Rugdaddy46 04/17/2012 1:24:00 AM
Unfortunately, Florida doesn't have a recall mechanism in place like Wisconsin and some other states. First we need to petition for a recall law..

To conservatives/liberals
We can come together because we have one thing both parties believe in, and that to take the money out of politics. Look, either Republican or Democrat they get money from big companies to pay for their election. Then who ever gets the most money usually gets elected right? So when they do get elected into office they don't work for the people, they work for who or what company gave them the money in the first place.
This is the reason why so many are in poverty. The rich kept getting richer and the poor just kept getting poorer. Are you not sick of that? Are you not sick of them callig it lobbying and it's actually just a another word for bribery?
Please, I am not an advertisement. I just think if tea-partiers and The Occupy movement can get together in Pennsylvania and be called a "Real Threat" then I think we can do it anywhere.

Rick Scott, a Crook with a capital "C". The only way a Crook can be elected is by funding his own campaign and with the billions he has by defrauding medicare and other providers he was able to do it. It is time to recall him. We need to start a petition to do so. Is anyone familiar with the process to create and internet petition?

Ttropic doesn't have a frickin' clue as to the horrendous mess the republicans have gotten us into! They have deficit spent our lives away, and got us into' not paid for wars' that were bogus and NOW pretend like they care, but in reality...they just want to help the mega-rich! What rock were you hiding under for all these years anyway?!?!

These people are selling off our US owned properties to private companies. There is no oversight to these companies. Our jail cells are traded on the stock market and costing a heck of a lot more to the state. Our roads are being sold off. Our school funds are being directed into private schools. Private company’s number one job is profit. That is it. That is all they do. Business is for profit. No loyalty to you, me, and the country. Why are you for this? Why are you for this guy to allow environmental ignorance to give our children cancer? We have come a long way since the days that you were able to light a lake on fire. Why go back to the days of Oligarchy of the 1920s? This isn't some liberal slant. This is black and white right in front of you. Rick Scott and many others like him are selling our country off bit by bit. Roads, prisons, schools, land, national security, etc etc. Liberal spending did not break us. WARS, Military, bank scandals, and privatization is killing us.

Ttropics58 08/08/2011 11:51:00 PM
It's certainly interesting to see how a liberal rag can bend the truth. It's liberal borrowing and spending that got us in this mess in the first place. What, should FL make their own stimulus fund and just hand out checks to everybody, so that the recession can continue? This country will get in better shape when its people wake up and realize we need to toughen up-in many ways.
-

08/03/2011 6:18:00 AM
1. I have no responsibility for electing this crook!
2. Yes, we are broke. We the people that is. The state government, politicians, bureaucrats, and the corporate executives are the ones who are not broke. They have through various means come up with ways of taxing, stamping fining, and licensing us into oblivion. Meanwhile they come up with ways to provide fewer and fewer services. If allowed, I would probably vote for the guy with the good ideas but not the fancy soundbites, etc. I realize that there is another way to get the word out besides special interest funded campaign material. I agree with you that people are so stupid for electing these crooks rather than spending the time to research be most honest and best qualified.
3. Come on, do you really think these people actually give a damned about what we think. Some are swayed a little bit by our phone calls, but others, once they get in office do exactly what their financiers want them to do. It is too late to change things by elections. It is time for direct ACTION. Putting a monkey wrench in the mechanisms of their wrongdoing is but one way of putting a stop to the corruption. How many people if sitting on a jury will ignore a judge's instructions and acquit a defendant for violating an unconstitutional law. I would!!! What would happen to the system if everyone simultaneously applied for every government benefit under the sun (all in the same month)? What would happen if people decided to buy and sell from each other instead of the stores or from big business? The only way we can stop corrupt government and businesses is by cutting them off from our resources.
-
08/03/2011 5:59:00 AM
I don't think every American or even most expect to be a millionaire. Most just want to be able to work and have enough to have a decent house, food on the table, and a few luxuries. However, as corporate crooks and politicians bleed us more and more, it now takes two people each working more than one job in order to make ends meet. My car taxes DOUBLED, yet I don't get double benefit. We pay more and more into the system and get less and less. Want to cut the deficit? Then go after the crooks (politicians and big business) who have stealing our money and get them out of office instead of putting them into office.
-
08/03/2011 5:46:00 AM
I don't have the money to earn yet another college degree, not do I have the money to pay off the bureaucrats in order to open a business. Too bad my job opportunities moved overseas. Political cronies have bled me dry. Rick has got to go.
-
08/03/2011 5:30:00 AM
I don't work for the state, and I don't receive any benefits from the state, yet I have to pay all these taxes. Yes, I wish Rick Scott would go. I don't like him because he is a corrupt bully.
-
08/03/2011 5:27:00 AM
The problem is that we DO NOT have a free market, we have crony capitalism in which only the wealth, very rich, or very well connected people are allowed to enter the market. If Rick Scott runs the state like a business, is he going run it like Columbia where he "didn't know" that that business was defrauding taxpayers? He has already shown his lack of respect for the U.S. Constitution when he decided it was OK to violate the 14th amendment.
If we want a prosperous economy and low deficits, we have to have more revenue. Increasing taxes will not hurt the big corporations, because all they do is pass the taxes onto us in the form of price increases. The only way to increase revenue is by increasing the tax base. This can be accomplished by allowing all who desire to to start their own business without having to be wealthy in the first place. Too many laws, rules, and regulations prevent newcomers from entering the marketplace. Why should only the "elite" be allowed to open businesses? Is it because big businesses don't want competition? I think so.
-
08/03/2011 5:01:00 AM
I'm a Tea Party member, and no, I didn't vote for this crook. The problem in this state and nation is not capitalism but rather crony capitalism. Only those who are rich enough to pay the state piper as well as the insurance companies are allowed to work most decent paying occupations. Big corporations are parasites that steal the wealth of this state and nation while small and medium size businesses are the lifeblood of this nation. Guess which ones get all the breaks and exemptions!!!
-
08/03/2011 4:30:00 AM
Better yet, those who worked for Columbia who PERSONALLY know of any of Scott's fraudulent dealings get together, gather the evidence, and present it. If there is enough, then hopefully he can be indicted, convicted, and removed from office. I will be glad to see this (U.S.) Constitution despising man gotten rid of.
Have any significant regulatory barriers that allow new businesses to be started in Florida been removed? Has workers compensation or any other insurance rates been reduced? They won't be as long as crony capitalism is at work.
-
08/03/2011 4:21:00 AM
Then ex-felons should not have to pay state taxes. Not allowing them to vote and requiring them to pay taxes is TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION. This is one if not the main reason why the founders TOOK UP ARMS to oust the British.
-
Luzianne Teabagger 07/28/2011 6:19:00 AM
It's a shame that a state like ours with so many people from further up north has to be cut off from the truth. I guess that's why the Tea Party needed someone who went to college in Texas to run our state. Otherwise, that pesky old gosh-darned truth would come back at us Jesus-like and we'd all have to catch up with our book learnin'.

Why is anyone surprised. He said he was going to do this BEFORE he was elected. This is when secret ballots need to be eliminated. Hold the people accountable for electing his stupid @$$. They should all have to miss the next election! He was elected because of the dislike of the Obama administration. So now, our Federal Government is locked up with partisan B.S., we are getting more "Bush league" politics in Florida, and we really need to referendum some people and prevent them from sinking us further. Those who know what's best for us, must RISE, and SAVE US FROM OURSELVES!

Privatized Medicaid?
Acted Sketchy according to the new times?
Cut the budget?
Cut Business Taxes?
Cut payments to slackers?
Turned down the ridiculous High Speed Rail money?
and cut that black hole of our money called the Public Education system?

Well lets see! This sounds like Rick Scot's job, but that's already filled. As teachers we love our jobs. If you don't know, we are more parents to most of our students, as we wipe the tears and solve problems that their birth parents can't solve or are too busy to be bothered. Half of our meager salary goes back into buying supplies for the classroom. Our job does not stop when we exit the building. In fact that's when most of our work begin its like a part time job without the pay. But we love our jobs, because of the children. In todays economy I'm most interested to find out from you where these jobs are. Please reserve your negative judgements if you have nothing positive to say.

Pointing out that the slimy fellow has FBI stain all over his hands and feeds his greed for money and power (with kickbacks to his buddies in healthcare) doesn't make any impression on you? Is it that you approve of his tactics (and the end truly does justify the means)? Were that the case, then terrorists cells in hiding should be treated with far more respect, as they are "just trying to fix things", too. (Maybe we should just give them a chance?)

Go to California and pay more taxes. California is the most bankrupt state of them all. HMMM common denominator there? Let me give you a HINT. HAS NOT BEEN CONTROLLED BY CONSERVATIVES FOR MANY OF YEARS. VERY HIGH TAXES STATE, COUNTY, CITY. You name it you will regret it. lol
-
Baybooks2000 07/18/2011 11:03:00 PM
Funny thing is Lisa Rab probably wants Florida run like California which is why they were the FIRST BANKRUPT state of everyone because they have been run primarily by liberals that are bleeding that state dry of all of their money for their own gain. Why is anyone even helping California they are a bunch of lazy liberals for the most part that want the government to give them hand me outs while not having to work at all. Liberals keep the American people STUPID by giving them handouts. OH you don't want to take that job at McDonalds so lets give you Welfare. Go ahead have 10 kids so we can continue to give you more welfare so you can get your nails done and crap like that. AMERICAN PEOPLE NEED TO STOP BEING LAZY. PERIOD. WE AS A WHOLE CAN DO ANYTHING WHEN WE PUT OUR MINDS TO IT.
OUR elected officials NEED to stop giving free rides to people that are lazy and just want government handouts. They also NEED to charge a FLAT TAX. NO BREAKS FOR ANYONE. STOP THE LOPSIDED TRADING WITH CHINA. FINE COMPANIES THAT WANT TO STOCK THEIR SHELVES WITH MORE CHINESE MADE CRAP. TAKE BACK OUR COUNTRY. That will fix our budget.

What I don't understand is that everything was so messed up 4 yrs. ago and are you people that afraid of Bush to admit that it started with him. It's really ashame that your mind set is and always will be to blame others for something that happened before someone else took office please grow up and get a pair.
-

I sure did! Bush spent money like a drunken sailor and turned his back on conservative economic principles. Now, Obama has spent more in two years than Bush screwed up in eight!! Nothing to indicate it has worked at all! His own projections (under 8% unemployment) prove it has only made things worst. True?

Florida is in the tank financially and the people elected R. Scott to fix it...now these same people who don't want their entitlments reduced are crying fowl!!! It's ok as long as it's someone else who gets the axe.... Terrible and biased reporting on this article!!!
-
Bkdiver 07/18/2011 6:54:00 PM
Clearly what Lisa Rabb and most of those commenting on her article fail to understand is that the state of Florida, together with most of the other states in the Union, are functionally broke and in some cases, on the verge of virtual bankruptcy, thanks in large part to a culture of pervasive entitlement that not only plagues state and federal government but every level of society in what I fear is quickly becoming the late great United States.
Governors like Rick Scott were elected by a majority of the electorates to try and put the brakes on this looming catastrophe. The fact of the matter is that there are no easy solutions to the state’s problems and without traditional tools like growing property taxes, the only answers are cuts in government spending, which in turn will be hugely unpopular and painful, particularly for those dependent on entitlements. I for one have no problem with the drug testing of state workers and welfare recipients, particularly since my line of work mandates drug testing as well. As a matter of fact, I think controls need to be implemented to make sure that welfare recipients aren’t spending their money on non-essential items like tattoos, jewelry and cell phones.
As far as contracts being awarded to political donors and supporters, this is not something new and certainly happens on both sides of the aisle, not only at a state level, but all the way up and down the political spectrum, from small town USA all the way up to the Federal level. Its called “special interests.”

What a totally unbias article!!!! Sure the state can run things better the private industry, this country was found on government worker's hard work. We have seen the government's success with Social Security, Depart of Ed, Energy Post Office etc and we are running a big surplus. The felonies should be allowed to vote, especially if it gets them better prisons and more hand outs.Though he was not convicted, of course he is guilty. Let's increase wages and benefits etc for government workers they're entitled and we can afford it.

GREAT JOB Gov.Scott, a long time in coming !! CUT CUT CUT and continue to cut the fat WHEREVER it is. Get rid of unqualified teachers, NO TENURE ! ! ! If County budgets have to be cut, then so be it. Since when is there some "money" tree in the back to just grab from, I am tired as a taxpayer with constant increases, NO MORE INCREASES ! ! ! I am a supporter of Police, Fire and normal services, BUT that does NOT mean carte blanche on budgets, cut in those departments if there needs to be. CUT property taxes, continue to do exactly what you promised to do when campaigning.

It is common knowledge that religious people are less intelligent than those who aren’t religious. Religious people blindly follow what they are told by their holy book and or church.
countless studies prove time and again that that dumb people are attracted to religions.
I know the discussion goes back and forth with what amounts to pretty meaningless bickering about the interpretation of this or that text. Who created god? Would a loving god send billions of people to hell? Or for that matter why would god create a person destined for hell in the first place? My god is the true god simply because i believe it to be so! If god created all things as you religious freaks claim, how come he created evil? How stupid are you when you continue believing, when what you believe in has been proved wrong? Why do you want to frustrate and mislead your children? Why does this holy book contradict itself on virtually every page? Why do religious people deny the claims of any other god but their own? some dictator in the past was an atheist. A child survived its a miracle! What about the other 1 million children that died today? Bla, bla, bla, etc, etc, etc. its never ending.
Believing in religion is the clearest proclamation anyone can make that they are a complete moron.

You state mismanagement, misappropriation, and gross misuse of our money, manpower and resources needs to stop, However you never mention the fact that Florida has had a Republican Governor for over 14 years now, and that REPUBLICANS control Florida state, and that they were the one's misusing OUR MONEY, BUT you do mention that Democrats and liberals suggest ? only suggest ! (since Conservatives can't get it right), however you cunningly shift a blame to the liberals as if they had any voice or power in Florida, Point your finger and blame your own party for the mess this state is in, not on a suggestion or idea that Democrats makes. Republicans always point fingers with no basis, Hypocrites,

Rick Scott was the best choice. He has delivered, until now, what he campaigned on. With that said, he is the only politician in the history of Florida to keep his word. The author of this article Lisa Rab, is clearly biased in her expression of this Politician. She is stating opinions and nothing more, along with massive manipulation to misrepresent Gov. Scott.
Rick Scott needs to make tough decisions and that is exactly what he is doing. What the previous administration lacked Rick is gaining ground.
This State is in shambles financially, every American-Floridian needs to buckle down and weather the storm. The mismanagement, misappropriation and gross misuse of our money, manpower and resources needs to STOP. No more creative positions in Government to create a Governmental job platform. This seems to be the philosophical way of life for the solutions of our society, according to the liberal and Democratic agenda. We need to slow down the influx of illegals in this country, it is costing an enormous amount of revenue. We need to stop all these special group funding in times like this. We need to keep those working in government happy with what they have and logistically stream line the work force. This will increase production and raise moral. Basically keep our streets safe and our basic social services intact. Water and Sewer, Police, Fire, etc.,,,I could do without the millions of dollars going into superfluous departments. I don't want to mention...

Obama is my President of choice just like Bush was not. He was the least intelligent President ever to occupy the Oval Office. Stole the first election. Thanks Florida. Got into a war and got nothing in return from the people who wanted Saddam gone the most while leaving over 4,000 American dead in the process and gas prices back to $4.00 a gallon and the Chinese getting all the deals to rebuilt the infrastructure in Iraq. He made absolutely no progress on Health Care, Immigration, Energy in eight years, and gave the terrorist a small but very important victory. The limitation of some fundamental rights. Like privacy and what being an American means. I would have voted for Bill too. Dollar Bill...

I, and all intelligent Floridans, voted for the best candidate....Bill McCollum.
Rick Scott is not my governor just like Obumma is not my president.

Floridian should stop complaining and accept what they voted for. Republican IDIOTS elected this man. And now we all have to live with him until he rob from us all like he did with his insurance company and leave office. You got what you voted for. He is such a crook that he could not even get a license to sell insurance in Florida. Yet the Morons in this State voted him into office. You get what you now deserve. And the rest have to suffer with you. Thanks.

"Call out the busses...I wonder if there is any openings for qualified teachers with a master degree in New York"
Um, probably not for teachers who can't spell or use proper English.

The war between Americans and Teachers will end up with "Home Schooling" for all. It is then that we shall realize how stupid we have become as a nation.

Will the libs be unhappy when Florida's booming economy makes us the envy of the other 49 states, if not the entire world? We Floridians gave Governor Scott a mandate for his visionary plan to create "700,000 jobs in 7 years," which - given the unprecented magnitude of the problem - will require two terms to be completed. To sabotage the recovery by undermining the Governor now would be not only economically suicidal, but also unAmerican and socialistic!

Great job Florida. There were questions about his role with the crimes of Columbia /HCA although he was not charged do we not question the justification of that?
However we wonder why Casey Anthony was acquitted when our governor was not even charged but also was give the votes to become our state leader.

If you are a "liberal" what qualifies you as the expert of what Republicans think of Rick Scott? Sounds to me like you are talking out of your a$$ more than anything else.
-
07/17/2011 12:35:00 PM
So tell me something libtards...
What crime was Rick Scott convicted of?
If that's too tough...
What crime was Rick Scott indicted for?
And now for the easy one...
What crime was Rick Scott charged with?
With all the smearing of Scott's name committed by this rag and its readers, the answers to the above questions should be clear, easy, and exact.
Well????? Time to put up or shut up.

I'm a Liberal ,and i give 2 cents of what the Governor is doing, His own party hates him and want him out becaseu he doesn't play by thier rules, he does as he pleases, (sounds like a conservative to me) , we (liberals) are just taking a step back and laughing at the republican fools who put him there, that's what you get for slapping Charlie Christ, although im a liberal Charlie Christ was doing a great job considering Bush sank every state in the union.

I will print your post and line my cat's litter box with it, that will be the best use for you comment. It is better to be run by "Communists" than fashists. Remember Saddam Husein, Muammar Gaddafi, the like. We are going to have this type of government soon if we can't rein in Scott

Oh, really? Not a single unemployed person that I personally know has gotten a job yet. And what kind of jobs exactly has Scott created?

Look at your property insurance. GOogle which companies have been approved for premium increases and how much of an increase. Look at the well hidden data showing less than 1% of sinkhole claims were fraudulent. Look at 85% of sinkhole claims were denied. Then, ask yourself... If we haven't had a hurricane in 5 years, and there isn't a sinkhole fraud problem... Why were the laws changed? Why will your rates be raised so drastically? Then, take a look around. With a fragile housing economy in Florida, how many people can afford rate increases like the ones occurring? Read your policies carefully. Read the legislative changes even more closely. Your insurance has just changed dramatically and you don't even realize it yet. Every homeowner in Florida just lost. When your neighbor ends up in foreclosure, because of insurance rates, your property values will be affected.

Most Floridians are awake. The rest will be when they get their insurance bills.

Oh, yes, the thugs that disrupt classes in public schools, will have great future in charter schools or private schools, or, better yet, in on-line schools. Quick fix for all educational woes - send all lazy and unmotivated, unruly and stupid future criminals to those schools, and see what they will turn into soon.

I found an article regarding jobs added in Florida over the last year (not quite Scott's term timeline). But, it might give you an idea about what kind of jobs are being added and where.

Dear sir,
Please look closely at your insurance policy. Then, look again. Scott has given insurance companies the power to raise your rates every year. Research the new legislative changes regarding honeowners insurance. Then, hold onto your seat. By the time you realize how much your insurance has decreased and your rates increased, it will be way too late. Scott is hurting every homeowner in the state.

You should look on YouTube. Rick Scott was using law enforcement to keep Democrats out of a public event. The event was advertised as public. It was outside. The venue was loaned to Scott and state functions were being performed. When asked if the law enforcement officers were on state time, the answer was yes. I am sorry to say that it looks like nothing Scott is doing is in the interests of the citizens of Florida.

He isn't being physically responsible. He is being short cited and closes minded. Someone with the same name as Scott's brother, and a similar background, was reported to be on drugs and public assistance. So, Scott wants to drug test everyone on public assistance. Nevermind that it has also been reported that the brother is mentally ill. It appears as though Scott thinks if you cut off the money, you will fix the mental health problems. Since the mentally ill often self medicate, why not get mental health safety nets in place? It would likely help the person become sell sufficient and likely to succeed, without illegal drugs. But, instead, let's put someone using drugs on the streets without any assistance. Don't you think these people will end up in jail? Wouldn't public assistance and mental health services be cheaper outside prison rather than inside? Is this really physically responsible or tragically short sided? Not to mention, is it cheaper to drug test every state employee and person on public assistance to find the 1 in xx,xxx doing drugs and cut off their state benefits?
