You see them everywhere. They're on your front lawn, blocking the driveway, as you're trying to get to work. They're nestled in countless bowls in your mom's, grandmother's, and great-aunt's kitchens. They're lugged into the office each morning by a frenzied co-worker looking to get rid of another boxful. Even the squirrels are getting tired of the immense effort it takes to knock them off your tree with their tiny paws every morning. They're mangoes: the succulent, fragrant, thick-skinned fruits that invade Miami each summer. And for the 19th year, Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden is celebrating this ubiquitous fruit, which we enjoy so much of at the start of the season (by the end, we're ready to cut down every tree in the neighborhood). This year's International Mango Festival, featuring mangoes from Hawaii, will take place Saturday and Sunday. Learn everything you've ever wanted to know about mangoes, from how to take care of a tree to the best ways to toss, roast, bake, or grill the fruit. There will also be a mango brunch, an international fruit market, and, for the truly devoted, the world's only mango auction.
