Madonna once asked, Do you know what it feels like for a girl in this world? Look dudes, no matter how many womens studies classes youve taken or how much Lifetime TV youve watched, the female experience isnt one you can just stumble upon or even easily understand. Maybe psychedelic drugs can offer a portal. Theres a chance, though, that all you need is a good storyteller to get the best idea of whats going on with the fairer sex. Actress and lyricist Maribeth Graham and composer Dana P. Rowe wrote the musical comedy See Jane Run! to present a point of view of what its like to live with woman parts and female problems in the 21st Century.
The story is composed of three vignettes, which tell the story of three Janes. One has heart disease, and another is homeless. Doesnt sound funny, but thats the brilliance of See Jane Run!, which finds humor and sass in lifes actual problems. Graham describes the feminine experience as funny, sad, smart, and stupid. Aint that the truth? Make sure to catch the world premiere of the play at the Actors Playhouse during preview performances on Wednesday. The show officially opens on July 15 runs through August 14.
Wednesdays-Sundays, 8 p.m. Starts: July 13. Continues through Aug. 14, 2011
