Twenty years ago it was illegal in Coral Gables to walk up to the bar and order a drink at JohnMartin's pub on Miracle Mile. The courts have affirmed the city's right to enforce it's odd, draconian rules, but that does not make it right or fair or proper. The city commission should kill this ridiculous ordinance that might have made sense a couple of generations ago. A majority would likely agree on a rule banning "ugly vehicles" parked overnight, but not a broad brush against all vehicles classified as pickup trucks. At the very least, they should take a passive approach and only take action when a complaint is lodged by issuing a polite warning. That should take care of 90% of the complaints.
