More than 50 wines, hors d'oeuvres, cigars, a souvenir wine glass, and the chance to talk to certified cork dorks will all be at one place this Wednesday. From 6 to 8 p.m., Doral's ABC Fine Wine & Spirits will host its Welcome to Wine Country bash. It'll cost you ten bucks and the ride out to Doral, but hey, nothing's perfect, is it?

ABC---always be careful--of what you buy. Do not overpay for specials such as "private labels" or "post office box" wines. Stick to known or researchable wines with real wineries. A special tip---take any lousy red, cool it 5 or 10 degrees and it will taste better, for a mediocre white, just chill it until it's faults are more difficult to detect. Beware!
