Artful Dodgers

Just a few years ago, fresh off back-to-back appearances at the National League Championship Series, the Los Angeles Dodgerswere the envy of baseball. The team had the right mix of young stars (outfielders Matt Kemp and Andre Ethier) and been-there, done-that veterans (outfielder Manny Ramirez and manager Joe Torre). On top of it all, they got to play baseball in L.A. But last season was not what Hollywood dreams are made of: Ramirez was washed up and traded, Torre looked disinterested, Kemp was reportedly distracted by glitz and glamour, and Ethier had a potential MVP season derailed by a broken finger. Though the golden gleam is now a bit rusted, the Dodgers still feature some of the best players in baseball, including Cy Young candidate Clayton Kershaw, who flashes one of the hardest-breaking curve balls in the game. The Dodgers will take on the Florida Marlins’ equally enviable stable of young talent this Monday at Sun Life Stadium.
