Desperately Seeking Sedaris

David Sedaris, best-selling author, humorist, and contributor to This American Life and The New Yorker, enraptures us with his stories. In Naked, Me Talk Pretty One Day, and Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim, he describes his childhood as one of six kids in a second-generation Greek family, his trials with cross-country hitchhiking, and his days working as Santa’s elf, as a mental hospital aide, and as an apartment cleaner. But his yarns are more than stories. Told in that warbled timber and genius timing, they become classic comedic monologues. This Friday, he’ll retell some of his greatest hits and discuss his latest novel, Squirrel Seeks Chipmunk: A Modest Bestiary, at the Parker Playhouse. The book’s outrageously funny fables feature animals with unmistakable human traits. When story time begins at 8 p.m., hear what happens when a squirrel and chipmunk walk into a bar.
