Jamie Kennedy hates hecklers. And if you watched his 2007 documentary, Hecklers, youd understand why. However, not a lot of people saw it, according to the 40-year-old comic, because after premiering at the Tribeca Film Festival, the doc fell under the radar and went straight to DVD. Theres always going to be a few drunks at every show that feel they are as funny as the person onstage, Kennedy told us in a recent phone interview. Ive been doing stand-up for close to 20 years, and Ive never found a heckler that Ive thought is hilarious. Theyve had a couple of funny heckles, but Ive never thought , Wow, you should really do this professionally. The man understands his role as comic, which is why he gets paid to make folks laugh and not to sell home products. I dont go down to fucking Bed Bath & Beyond and start telling people how to sell candles. Dont tell me how to do jokes. Catch Kennedy at the Miami Improv when he kicks off a three-day engagement Friday.
