Family in Dysfunction

All families have drama. Some, like the McGrath sisters from Hazlehurst, Mississippi, might have more than others. Their mother hung herself, and her cat. One of them took aim at a husband to hide a secret, and the other, she’s got a great life and wonderful career—unfortunately it’s all in her head. The best thing about Beth Henley’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play, Crimes of the Heart, is not the crazy stories that the McGrath sisters go through—though they are pretty kooky—it’s that watching them unfold is actually heartwarming.
