Board Games

For all of Miami’s sun and sea-loving culture, the waves of the Atlantic remain calm as they lap at our sandy shores. Want to surf? Yeah, you’ll have to drive to Central Florida for that. So if the paddle-out culture still holds a certain allure for you, head to Museum of Contemporary Art’s annual MOCA Bash Surf’s Upat 8 p.m. this Saturday. Organizers promise an evening in which you can do everything short of hopping on a board. The museum will transform itself with lifeguard stands, bonfires, and surfboards aplenty. Entertainment will come courtesy of hula and limbo dancers, fire eaters, and “beach bunnies” (okay, those may not be so exotic). And a silent auction will give you a chance to snag original artwork, hotel stays, and VIP art fair passes. Meanwhile seafood-centric grub will arrive from fine-dining establishments such as China Grill, Asia de Cuba, Blue Door Delano, Sushi Samba, Kung Fu Sushi, Adriana Restaurant, Meat Market, and more. Beyond all that tiki torch-worthy stuff, though, the party will in fact feature one thing we are all intimately familiar with in Miami: Grey Goose vodka, which has generously sponsored this high-class shindig. The Goose, along with Sam Adams beer, wine, the hors d’oeuvre, and, of course, the entertainment, is included with your ticket. Of course, that also gets you a secure future of continued art appreciation thanks to your tax-deductible contribution to the museum.
