Choreographer Twyla Tharp once said, Art is the only way to run away without leaving home. So if you didnt get a vacation at Christmas, go on a trip at this weekends Second Saturday Art Walk. Wynwood and the Design Districts galleries open at 7 p.m. Detroit is perhaps the only U.S. city that lives in the past. Once a bastion of industry, its now a place where trees grow in abandoned buildings and the diminishing population has returned to farming and raising livestock despite city ordinances. Artist Chris Dean examines his hometowns unique state through impressive lenticular (hologram-like) images of the blighted city juxtaposed with Technicolor silhouettes of the future. See Deans Transylvania at Harold Golen Gallery, where the band Gold Dust Lounge will perform during the art walk.
