At 26 years old, R&B songster Trey Songz is already the envy of 99.9 percent of the music industry. He toured with Jay Z last year and is traveling with Usher this year; he also collaborated with Drake and Soulja Boy Tell’em. And he’s launched four popular albums, including one that was certified gold. Even MTV is impressed, and followed him around to film a ten-part documentary titled Trey Songz: My Moment. But everybody knows you haven’t really made it until you’ve hosted a New Year’s Eve party at a South Beach nightclub. Tremaine Aldon Neverson will scratch off another pending item on his megastar to-do list when he hosts the Trey Songz New Year’s Eve Party. And it’s not at just any nightclub — Songz is popping the Dom at Lux, which has two levels of hip-grinding, rope-a-grope dance floors, and more bars than in T.I.’s prison cell. Doors open at 9 p.m., though Songz might be a little tardy for the party. Why? His tour concert with Usher starts at the same time across the bay at the American Airlines Arena. No worries, 99 JAMZ (WEDR-FM 99.1) afternoon-ride-guy Lorenzo “Ice Tea” Thomas will hold court along with DJs LS One, Affect, and Griot & Mummy. Tickets cost $100 for ladies and $150 for gents, and include three hours of open bar before midnight. If you’re high-rolling, the table specials start at $1,500 for six guests and up to $3,000 for eight guests.
Fri., Dec. 31, 9 p.m., 2010
