If the U.S. techno scene has a leader, it might be Philly-native Josh Wink. The producer, remixer, and owner of Ovum Recordings keeps the genre in constant flux, never sounding outdated or irrelevant. Involved in the music scene since the early ’90s, Wink has worked with everyone from Trent Reznor to Paul Oakenfold. His latest effort, 2009’s When a Banana Was Just a Banana, is a schizophrenic mish-mash of dance genres from acid house to minimal. From the melodic soundscape of “Jus’ Right” to the jungle rhythms of “Hypnoslave,” Wink proves he has a full musical arsenal and isn’t afraid to use it. Grand Central will host the techno-master with visuals by Psyberpixie crawling on the enormous LED curtain. DJs Dsan Powel and Mario Liberti will provide additional support.
