Ever had impure thoughts about your girlfriend’s mom, gone gaga for an octogenarian professor in college, or even had the hots for Golden Girl Blanche or, gulp, Dorothy? If you said yes to any of the above, you’re a cub — a younger guy who likes older women. And come Friday, you should be clawing your way into the Embassy Suites Hotel for the first Miami Cougar Convention and the Miss Cougar Miami contest. “Cougars are the hottest thing to hit the dating world in the last decade,” convention organizer and self-proclaimed cougar expert Rich Gosse says. He should know — he’s written eight books on the subject. Despite the misnomer, Gosse says, cougars are not predatory at all. They, and the men who seek them, are just taking advantage of a societal situation that leaves single women 40 and older without many dating options. The cubs, on the other hand, are attracted to the experience and lack of game-playing that cougars offer. It’s a perfect match, and Gosse says the popularity of his cougar mixers is the proof. (Last year, they had to turn away 1,000 cubs from an event in San Francisco.) The inaugural Miami Cougar Convention begins at 7:30 p.m. Thursday. At then, at 11, one lucky cougar will be crowned Miss Cougar Miami.
