Glitzy House Kittens

Chicago house producer and DJ Felix da Housecat has been making crowds move since the early ’90s. He was cemented as a dance music pioneer when he — along with Larry Tee, Tommie Sunshine, Miss Kittin & the Hacker, DJ Hell, and others — ushered in the electroclash era at the turn of the century. (If you don’t own it already, buy Felix’s 2001 masterpiece, Kittenz and Thee Glitz.) With an inescapable beat, his music sounds more like Soviet dance-rock and has commandeered underground clubs from Miami to Berlin. Here, it was the cornerstone sound for former nightclubs including Soho Lounge, I/O, and Pawn Shop. Though Felix’s influence lately might not be as great — just look at last year’s appropriately titled album, He Was King — crowds have not stopped moving to his beats. Pinkroom will host the legendary electro artist this Friday. Tickets cost $25, and doors open at midnight. Call 305-534-7465 or visit pinkroommiami.com
