The last time Surfer Blood was in Miami, the local crew caused a stir, swearing it'd never again play Grand Central. Now only a few months later, the group has made amends and scheduled a return to the downtown venue, this time with Brooklyn indie-poppers the Drums.

Surfer Blood is a clear fan favorite. The West Palm Beach band's sermons on surf rock and lying out in the sun have quickly spread from South Florida to Spin and beyond. But don't underestimate the Drums' star power. The four-piece has equally dance-worthy beach themes under its postpunk belt, including "Let's Go Surfing," "Down by the Water," and "Submarine" — plus a bunch of mood-swaying, nostalgia-infused tracks that transcend any one particular decade. A Drums song can sometimes read like a '50s bubblegum prom dance postcard shuffled into a pack of pretty-in-punk party photos. What's more, these Brooklynites morph it all into something modern that transforms our ever-changing musical landscape. It's almost magic.
